then the Lateral rectus is the ANTAGONIST (not agonist) of the medial rectus.
They are an antagonistic pair of muscles
The medial rectus is the agonist for adduction
and the lateral rectus is the agonist for abduction

ditto the other two pairs of muscles

I would leave out the agonist antagonist business altogether
